Das Präparationslabor verfügt über Geräte zur Extraktion löslicher organischer Stoffe aus Sedimenten, Sedimentgestein, Kohle, Mikrobenkulturen und Wasserproben mittels Flow-Blending-Extraktion und Ultraschallextraktion. Darüber hinaus werden die Extrakte mittels Mitteldruckflüssigkeitschromatographie in verschiedene Polaritätsfraktionen (aliphatische, aromatische und polare NSO-Fraktion) sowie mittels präparativer HPLC und GC getrennt.
