Since the early 1990s, GFZ has been operating superconducting gravimeters for high-precision, long-term stable and continuous monitoring of temporal gravity changes. These are the integral effects of all mass variations and deformations induced by a large number of geophysical effects on a wide spectrum from seconds to decades.
GFZ currently operates the following superconducting gravimeters at the observatories in
- Sutherland/South Africa | SAGOS
- Zugspitze/Germany | ZUGOG
- Helgoland/Germany | HELGOG
- Serrahn/Germany (in preparation) (TERENO-Northeast)
- Buro
They are part of the International Geodynamics and Earth Tide Service (IGETS) with the IGETS database operated at GFZ.
