Global Station Networks

Our global measurement networks are a key tool for understanding the Earth system. Among other things, we want to identify and analyse natural hazards and observe the effects of global climate change. The global monitoring networks are modules of the Modular Earth Science Infrastructure (MESI).

GE Seismic Network - GEOFON Global Seismic Network

In 2018 the GEOFON global seismic network consists of more than 80 active high quality stations with real-time acquisition. The network plays a leading role in global real-time seismology providing valuable data for almost all fundamental and applie…

GNSS Station Network

Since the early 1990s, the GFZ has operated a global GNSS station network with currently about 70 stations for precise satellite clock & orbit determination, realization of the terrestrial reference frame, radio occultation measurements or studies o…

Geomagnetic Observatories

A global network of geomagnetic observatories is the backbone of studies concerning the field sources in the Earth's core, ionosphere and magnetosphere. Moreover, the data are used for models and maps with practical applications, and the determinati…

Gravimetric Observatories

Since the early 1990s, GFZ has been operating superconducting gravimeters for high-precision, long-term stable and continuous monitoring of temporal gravity changes. These are the integral effects of all mass variations and deformations induced by a…

IGS - International GNSS Service

The International GNSS Service (IGS) is a service of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG). It provides Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) data and products with highest quality to the scientific community and beyond.

GFZ contribut…

INTERMAGNET

INTERMAGNET is an international program to provide quality controlled geomagnetic observatory data through a website and an ftp-server. Both archive and near-real time data are provided. The INTERMAGNET observatories in Niemegk, Wingst, Tristan da C…
